I feel really fortunate that my daughter and I have a close relationship. One of the main reasons that I say this is because my daughter is currently a teenager, and as I have learned from talking to many of my friends, this is an age when relationships between many mothers and their daughters completely crumble. Fortunately, this is something that I have been able to avoid with my own daughter. Sure, there are times when she gets mad at me or argues with me, but the important thing is that none of these events last for a long period of time.
Since we do still get along quite well, I always do my best to make time to spend with her. As a recent example, I took her shopping in New York City about a week and a half ago. We live fairly close to New York City, so one morning I picked up a rental car, and then I drove the two of us into the city. Once we got there, we started shopping (there were still a lot of great post-holiday sales), and we had an amazing time shopping and eating lunch & dinner together.
